- We can see that Ed Humble patched a kernel especially for the LattePanda V1 to get “everything working”:
- Ed Humble wrote that he did not get Lunbutu to work and he used Ubuntu instead.
- The Lunbutu 20.04 instruction by DFRobot supports touch, but for a LattePanda V1 to support touch we officially need:
- the official 7 inch DF Robot display for the LattePanda V1:
https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1413.html?tracking=
- the 7″ Capacitive Touch Panel Overlay for LattePanda V1 IPS Display:
https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1414.html?tracking=
- we suppose that the Lunbutu 20.04 instruction by DFRobot only works with these DFRobot components, at least until we studied in detail how it works.
- It is rare to find an instruction by a manufacturer for a Linux single board computer which supports touch display. Most Raspberry Pi OS support touch, and the Fedora distro for the Raspberry Pi 4 support the official 7 inch touch display for the Raspberry. Similar to the solution provided by DFRobot for the LattePanda, the official Raspberry Pi 7 inch touch display has a
Display Serial Interface (DSI) and the cable which is used is a broad cable:
- As shown above, the LattePanda 7 inch display uses a small cable connector, and the touch overlay for the LattePanda has another flat cable connector. These are plugged into two seperate plugs on the LattePanda V1 motherboard. DF Robot the Raspberry Pi 3 display is not compatible with the LattePanda V1. We can see that they use different flat cables.
- In the instruction about Lubuntu on the LattePanda it says that is supports touch, but it says nothing about if HDMI also works.
- In the list of accessoires for the LattePanda, we can see, that there is also that there is a
10.1″ 1200 x 1920 IPS Display for LattePanda V1, which uses a flat cable connector, and not a HDMI connector:
https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1657.html?tracking=
- This 10.1 display does not support touch, but it offers us to unplug the 7 inch touch display and to plug in the 10 inch display which is connected over cable. This is a workaround if HDMI shoud not work. In this way we can use this setup as a mobile device with 7 inch display, as well as a Laptop with 10 inch display.
- Here we can see the complete list of accessoires which is available from DFRobot for the LattePanda V1. Choose at the top V1:

We did not test these components and the software. If it works, it is a device which offers these features:
- Linux single board computer with touch support which is not a Raspberry Pi
- It is a Raspberry PI alternative which is available from Digitec Switzerland, exept for the 7 inch display and touch overlay, but these components can be found from other Swiss resellers.
- There is a Lubuntu light weight Linux instruction available.
Information for product sellers who do stock market speculation and scalping with the products mentioned by Peter Gamma on www.petergamma.org.
According to the little experience of Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org, many of these products are still full of issues which need to be resolved. If you do stock market speculation and sculping with those you will loose Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org as user and reviewer Is doing this not risky? Will you not loose the majority of your costumers as well? And does not society in general not accept stock market speculation and scalping with products like these? And is it not politically incapable of finding a majority of the voters? And as a consequence will it not be banned by political referendum soon?
