How can we port Peter H Charlton’s Matlab Respiratory Rate Estimation Toolbox to Python?

Last Updated on April 2, 2024 by pg@petergamma.org

  • Peter H Charlton is the developer of the Matlab Respiratory Rate Estimation Toolbox
  • He wrote a PhD. thesis about:

Continuous respiratory rate monitoring to detect clinical deteriorations using wearable sensors

«The aim of this PhD thesis was to develop and assess the performance of techniques for continuous RR monitoring using ECG and PPG signals for use in wearable sensors to detect deteriorations.»

  • Peter H. Chartons Matlab respiratory rate estimation is the most advanced and well documented software we know as non-coder for respiratory rate estimation:

Talha Iqbal, is Postdoctoral Research Associate at University of Galway, Ireland:

He calculated the Respiratory Rate (Breathing rate) from PPG or ECG signal in Python:

If you study all of these components whe should be able to have all what we need in Python as well . Peter H. Charlton wrote us a while ago he is looking for people porting this project to Python. Here is the instruction. We invite everybody to participate. We are looking as well for coder who port the project to Python.
