Why did computer scientist A J Keller from Neurosity develop the OpenBCI WIFI shield?

If we look at the different options which are offered for OpenBCI live-streams, which are proposed here:

Then we can see, that they all are very complicated. The WIFI shield offers a fast stream of sensor data to the OpenBCI GUI. But another advantage of the OpenBCI GUI is, that is offers to directly connect to it s REST API for a fast live sensor stream, which does not require a Bluetooth dongle or the OpenBCI GUI.

The OpenBCI WIFI shield has issues and is currently not avaible from OpenBCI. For alternatives and how to solve this problem, check our journal.
