Here is the ranking of single board computers sold at Digitec Switzerland in October 2026:
The Raspberry Pi s cost about double the price as they where before the chip crises. And which single board computer is interesting in this ranking? Usually the price to power ratio becomes better with times with products. But this this teh case with single board computers? They are double the price as they where before the chip crizes. The best option for us personally is to buy used devices somehwere. But this is time consuming. Are SBC developer like Raspberry Pi take advantage of a monopole position? Which product seller cannot deliver for years? And after that he comes back as if nothing would have happened? Raspberry Pi Inc.
And if we look for a convincing alternative we do not find one.
The Orange Pi s would now be interesting for us personally. But we do not find a seller in Switzerland, Germany or U.K. for instance on eBay, which would offer Orange Pi SBC to us. Would not Swiss manufacturers have retreated from selling Raspberry Pi s for private use? Then we would have for instance the Orange Pis in the stores in Switzerland. But we now have again the Raspberry Pis at the top of the list of a product which makes people suffer who need such a devices.
Since about 80 USD for an outated Raspberry Pi 4 with 4 GB RAM?
Which company has the courage to offer such products? A company who is waiting for the end of the Raspberry Pi for private use?
