The Vernier Go Direct Respiration Belt – an easy to use & affordable device to measure respiration rate for breath meditation?

We have discussed this topic previously in our journal:

If we test the accuracy of the device and turns out that it is accurate enough for breath meditation, it is an affordable and easy to use tool for this application.

It was not possible for us to buy the Go Direct Respiration Belt directly from Vernier in the US for us who live in Switzerland. We had to buy if from the reseller Educatec:

These reseller sometimes increase the costs for devices quiet a lot. We paid more than 200 USD for the Vernier Go Direct Respiration Belt. Verner offered the device for a price which was clearly lower than that. But similar devices from other manufacturers are very expensive.

Biosignals offered the Respiban professional for about 800 USD:

Additionally a toolox is required the mesure the respiration rate:

  • Biosignals offers also more affordable respiration belts. But also those require the Biosignal toolbox.
  • As we have tested the Vernier belt, it worked with the Vernier software which was offered for free.
  • Here we can find information about Vernier SDK for options:

Respiration belt sensors from Adinstruments are even more expensive:
