Open questions regarding YouTubers, paper authors, conference organizers, founders of companies, EEG device sellers, etc. which we reviewed in recent years

Since Rob ter Horst has tested his 100 smartwatches, his paper about his Polar H10 chest strap partly financed by Polar, which caused us a lot of work:

We have many open questions.

  • Which YouTube video makers receive products in exchange for a review and are therefore paid promotional video maker from a legal point of view?
  • Which paper authors receive products in exchange for a paper and are therefore paid promotional paper authors from a legal point of view?
  • How are for instance EEGLAB workshops, mBrianTrain conferences, etc. financed? Is this also paid promotion from a legal point of view?
  • Are many of the demo devices which where not picked up by «ordinary» «professional» companies and are now sold by «paid promotional YouTubers» who want to sell these products by their promotion on YouTube?
  • Why are these products not sold also by iWorx, BIOPAC, Adinstruments, etc.
  • Where many of the products previously tested by Worx, BIOPAC, Adinstruments. etc. and rejected by those?
  • Have YouTube video makers have to make videos for certain reasons?
  • One of the products we doubt about is the Greentek Gelfree S3 cap in which we where interested in. Strange things happened with YouTube videos of this cap. Papers appeared with authors from Slovenia and Serbia. mBrainTrain is located in Serbia, Belgrade as well. Is there for instance a conflict of interest for instance with mBrainTrain and these Serbian paper autors?
  • Why aren’t there any papers from authors who use the Greentek S3 from authors which have not conflict of interest?
  • Neurospec in Switzerland for instance told us that they do not know Greentek EEG caps at all, altough they told us that they are in the business for EEG devices as far as we know over 20 years in Switzerland.

https://www.neurospec.com/

  • Neurospec Switzerland published also YouTube videos about the Biosemi active 2 EEG cap and very expensive and very old EEG amplifiers from Biosemi, they cost as far as we know around 10 000 USD with 8 EEG channels.
  • On the other hand Greentek sensors write on their page that they are a “LEADING EEG sensor technology ; 15+ YEAR experience in BCI/Biosensors ; SUPPORTED by NSF of China and the Ministry of Science and technology”

https://www.greenteksensor.com/

  • 15+ YEAR experience BCI/Biosensors of Greentek sensors, but where are the papers with no conflict of interest which use Greentek sensors?
