Is a Garmin watch helpful for practicing meditation – it is, but is not suitable to do scientific studies with it

Practicing meditation influences the resting heart rate. We did not yet study the scientific literature about it, but we know it by our own little experience. And we suppose that there are papers out there which confirm this. A normal resting heart rate is between 60 and 100. You can check this in Garmin Connect which shows the average resting heart rate over the last 7 days.

World champion in reviewing Garmin watches is DC Rainmaker. Somewhere he wrote that is resting heart rate is 40, as it is for athletes in the world champions league. If he is overstessed or overtrained, it is higher. So if you want to become a world champion in mind training, you can also practicing meditation utnil your resting heart rate is 40. But unfortunately you cannot use you Garmin watch to do scientific studies we it. At least not Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org. Since he did found now where scientific proof that is Garmin watch delivers reproducable data at a level of a scientific study. And he did not find also the scientific tools how to test it. So Peter cannot use Garmin watches to do science with it.
