For measuring respiration rate, a spirometer is the most accurate option. Spirometers are expensive.
The best option to build a low-cost high-quality spirometer is to buy a used spirometer from iWorx.

I could build such a device now right away from the knowledge I gathered during the last view years. And the market for physiological multi-sensor devices is small and saturated. And there seems to be a market trust for these device to keep prizes for those devices high. I am not interested in developing physiological multi-sensor hard- und software and selling those. As my little experience as an EEG device reviewer has shown, it seems not possible to lower the costs for EEG devices anymore. So the only option seems to be to lower the costs with open source hardware and software.
I am not a developer for soft – and hardware for physiological multisensor devices. But I am reviewing these devices eventually as a lifetime journey. And according to my own little experience it is only a question of time until I will find those open source hardware and software devices and also the community who develops those internationally with the DuckDuckGo search engine in the web.
