A term which is missing in christianity is enlightenment. According to the Buddhist teachings we are only completely mentally healthy if we are completely enlightened. But there is no enlightenment in Christianity. There are only voices from heaven:
And God said with a voice from heaven to Jesus: “You are my beloved Son. With you I am well pleased.“
But if we have a closer look at the spiritual experiences Jesus Christ made when he was about 30 years old, aren t they not far from the experiences enlightened people report about?
And would Buddhists or Sikhs not say a voice who speaks from heaven is similar to our intuition which speaks to us, or our human capacity to know speaks to us? And when the devil speaks to Jesus, is this different than when the ego speaks to a Buddhist or a Sikh?
And if we have such an intuition, could we not measure this in a brain scanner as gamma waves in our brain?
And with these experiences, was Jesus Christ much different from a high-level meditator?
The Roman Catholic Church teaches that the Pope is the Vicar of Jesus Christ and the Successor of the Apostle Peter, not a direct successor of Jesus himself. The Pope is elected through a secret ballot process called a papal conclave, held in the Sistine Chapel after the death or resignation of the previous pontiff. We had 266 popes in the history of the Catholic Church
In Tibetan Buddhism, we had 14 Dalai Lamas
An interesting person in the history of Tibetan Buddhism was Milarepa who wanted to be free from suffering. Milarepa (1052-1135) meditated in his cave until he was enlightened.
The first Dalai Lama came around 200 years later. He was Gendün Drub (1391–1474), a key Tibetan Buddhist monk. He founded the famous Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and received the title Dalai Lama posthumous. Tibetan Buddhist teachings are passed over since Milarepa who to become enlightened by meditating in a cave.
And there are teachings of Buddha how to become free from suffering. And these teachings are passed over since 2 500 years:
But more than 20 years after Richard R. Davidson scientific studies started about meditation, we still do not know what are the causes of mental suffering and how it can be alleviated based on scientific findings:
