– It is a pity that this problem still persists

https://openbci.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/3502/cyton-wifi-packet-loss-noise-issues

  • If you try to solve this problem, just don t buy the first OpenBCI WIFI shield you find on ebay like this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284876280716

  • We again want to honor these great demos of the WIFI shield developer A J Keller from Neurosity:
  • on Aliexpress, WIFI shields can be found which are descibed as 8 channels WIFI denoised, it is a denoised and power improved version of the OpenBCI WIFI shield
  • If you try to solve problems with packet loss and cyclic noise spiking, just don t buy the first OpenBCI WIFI shield you can find on ebay, like this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284876280716

  • it might be an old WIFI shield with packet loss and cyclic noise spiking.Buy a denoised and power improved version of the WIFI shield for your tests, which is sold on Aliexress:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004658823805.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.340d6c6atwoBNV&algo_pvid=d45d32de-bb2f-4cb6-b9a2-21df258b8447&algo_exp_id=d45d32de-bb2f-4cb6-b9a2-21df258b8447-38&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000030012949359%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21USD%211136.87%21568.43%21%21%212.11%21%21%402101d8f416651245820757458e375d%2112000030012949359%21sea&curPageLogUid=OZrTitdPuAxE

  • It seems that this problem is known to the developer of the power improved and denoised version of the OpenBCI WIFI shield
  • Unfortunately, the labeling of the new power improved and denoised WIFI shield is not always clear, it is not clear which devices has this features.
  • We suppose that there are still old WIFI shield sold with issues.
  • It would be highly desirable, that the labeling of the WIFI shield on Aliexpess is better
  • It should be absolutely clear, that testers buy the right WIFI shield to test and publish the results
  • Everybody should know which new WIFI shield to buy and where, and which are the problems with packet loss and cyclic noise spiking, and how they can be solved
  • It is a pitty that great testers eventually choose a WIFI shield that is brocken instead of a knew one which is described here
