Low-cost high-quality treadmill for scientific studies?

  • Are there other researchers than Antoine Lutz who have a research grant for meditation reseach?

https://centerhealthyminds.org/about/people/antoine-lutz

  • And are reseachers with a research grant for meditation research as Antoine Lutz not a rare species on this planet?
  • For the others meditation researchers we need to find a low-cost high-quality treadmill.
  • Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org currently owns a newgen medical treadmill which costs new about 400 USD:

  • But the “medical” in “Newgen medical” does not necessary mean that the treadmill is suitable for clinical applications.
  • This is a treadmill which works well for a walking meditation practice of for instance 2 x 30 min each day.
  • If performed at a speed of about 3 km / h this gives a total of around 10 000 steps a day.
  • For general fitness, most adults should aim for 10,000 steps per day, according to a medical review of Debra Rose Wilson, Ph.D., published in Medical News Today:

https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/how-many-steps-should-you-take-a-day

  • Older children and teenagers can aim for close to 12,000 steps, while those who are older or unable to walk for long can still benefit from lower step counts
  • Around 10 000 steps are also indicated on the Garmin Connect Dasboard to make each day, and can be seen with a graph there.
  • But the Newgen Medical Treadmill is only of limited use for scientific studies.
  • The mechanics is too poor to be used for scientific purposes.
  • The motor does not run stable.
  • There are no speed sensors.
  • The speed indicated from the board computer correlates with the amount of current which is added to the treadmill motor.
  • It says nothing about the actual speed.
  • If it runs idle, and then when we step on it, the speed drops because of the body weight.
  • But the speed of the speed indicator remains the same.
  • We found out about this when we additionally used a Treadtracker speed sensor paired to the a training tracker app as a speed sensor to find out about the actual speed of the treadmill.
  • There is no circuit there which would regulate the speed of the Newgen medical treadmill electronically.
  • All of this makes the Newgen medical treadmill a treadmill which is only of limited use for scientific studies.
  • Treadmills used for scientific studies are very well built, as for instance the Schiller C200:
  • If we look at papers which use treadmills:

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=de&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=treadmill&btnG=

  • they basically start with Woodway Curved Treadmills as the most affordable once:

https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=de&as_sdt=0%2C5&q=woodway+curve&oq=woodway

  • There are clones available of these Woodway treadmills which start around 2 000 USD:
  • This one here is a ADVG curved treadmill from U.K.:
  • It is sold by ADVG.co.uk
  • ADVG.co.uk is number for Gym equipement in the U.K.
  • The above curved treadmill is also the No 1 for Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org to import an affordable high-quality curved treadmill to Switzerland.
  • For walking meditation we do not urgently need a treadmill motor, the curved treadmill works witout a treadmill motor.
  • But we need an accurate treadmill speed sensor which can be read out easily.
  • And it should be possible to connect the treadmill speed sensor to the data analysis software of our joice.
  • Then we can ajust manually the speed with the speed indicator when we use the treadmill when we walk with it.
  • If we do it carefully, we can do without a treadmill motor, and can still use it for scientific studies.
  • We can monitor and analyse the speed with a PC which is connected to a treadmill speed sensor.
  • For accurate readings for speed and distance we invite you to use this Rasperrry Pi speed sensor:

Information for product sellers who do stock market speculation and scalping with products mentioned by Peter Gamma on www.petergamma.org.

According to the little experience of Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org, many of the products listed here are still full of issues which need to be resolved. If you do stock market speculation and sculping with those, you will loose Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org as a buyer of these products and as a reviewer. Is this not risky? Will you not loose a majority of your costumers as well?

And is it not so, that society in general does not accept stock market speculation and scalping with products as those which are listed here? And will you not be politically incapable of finding a majority of the voters if you do stock market speculation and sculping with these products?

And as a consequence will you not be condemned and punished by a political referendum soon? Especially if you do this to a Swiss, since are not majority of Swiss against stock market speculations and sculping with people on a budget? And people in Switzerland are known for a lot of political referendums, since we have direct democracy in this country.

And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org will fight up to the European Court of Human Rights against people who do stock market speculation and sculping with the products which are mentioned on www.petergamma.org. And if they do not have yet the legal basis there to do so, he will fight for it.Edit
