There are are tons of reviews on YouTube and WordPress about this topic. The following table is a listing of open questions after 447 posts about single board computers we wrote in our journal:

Which singe board computer to choose for our application – we still haven’t found what we are looking for

We could’nt find a Raspberry Pi 4 alternative which fits for our needs which is listed in this table.
Swiss YouTuber Andreas Spiess recommended used thin clients ( or one liter PC’s) as alternatives to Pi’s during Corona for his application:

But used thin clients or Intel NUC’s are no alterntives to Pi’s for us personally during the next Corona break-out
Our application is for mobile use
Also the other SBCs listed in the table mentioned above are not alternatives for us personally. There are too many open questions regarding these SBCs.

According to our own little experience as reviewers the Raspberry Pi 3B+ (or an older model if necessary) is the best alternative to the Raspberry Pi 4 during the next Corona break out for our own specialized application. They where available also during Corona used on eBay in quantities which are sufficient for our needs to acceptable prices.
