We do not have a really good answer to this. We reviewed most of these EEG headsets in our journal. We do not know the answer to this either. But we stick to this topic as a life-time journey, and we suppose the answer will become clearer sooner or later. If you are interested in this topic, read our journal under the tag «EEG»:

Which currently has 564 posts. This is a lot of work, and we will give this journal a better structure for EEG heatsets sooner or later, similar to what we have done with conumer grade heart monitors:

And we will do the same with the single board computers we reviewed in our journal. Some Aliexpress and eBay sellers do stock market speculations with EEG heatsets to shoot up prices for those. We will avoid these sellerssince it is against the trend of the world, and they will loose us a customers.

The trend of the world is that costs for EEG heatsets drops and quality increases. And we think it will become more and more difficult to make money out of those. That is why we promote open source projects and share information which might be helpful for others in our journal.

The MRIS is a private project on Peter Gamma’s personal website:

We do not sell any soft- and hardware EEG components and we do not have any plans to do this. But we share the mission of Alexandre Barachant, Ph.D. to bring a low-cost, Open Hardware, Research-grade EEG to the masses:
