  • Which respiratory rate estimation algorithms are accurate enough to be medical and research grade? We do not know of none.
  • iWorx offers spirometers. The iWorx software is around 1 000 USD. But iWorx offers no scriping with their software.
  • iWorx recorders can be used with Matlab. But we have to write the code for the recorder by ourselves.
  • Adinstruments requires the LabChart software for a Matlab interface.
  • But LabChart offers also some real-time graphs.
  • Adinstruments LabChart software 7 – 8000 USD extimated our memory.
  • Biopac starts at 4 000 USD.
  • Biopac offers and SDK for real-time monitoring which is estimated a view thousand dollars as wel.
  • If we consider all of this, the question arrises if we are a little bit skilled if it is not worth it for our home lab to use a Spirometer from for instance iWorx and attach it to OpenBCI or PiEEG and start doing some experiments.
  • All the other options listed here are very expensive. And the options which cost less as for instance respiratory rate estimation are not medical and research grade.
