We did another test with a curved treadmill in a fitness-center today. We did one before. We where using shoes which where better suitable for running. In the first test we used sports shoes which where very light-weight. But they caused a lot of noise at 4 km/m.
Now, we used shoes which are suitable for running. And there was less noise. I think with a curved treadmill one can train walking meditation at night without waking up our neighbours, which is very important for our purpose.
After a 30 min. test, we came to the conclusion that curved treadmills as they are used in fitness centers are most probably also suitable for doing physiology. The mechanics are very robust, and run stable, without too much vibration. But if we to only walking meditation at 4 km/h for 2 x 30 min a day, a curved treadmill as they are used in fitness centers seem to bit of an overkill. These devices are very heavy, and take a lot of space, and cannot be foldet as for instance Newgen Medical devices. I currently use a Newgen Medical treadmill for around 400 USD at home. It runs quiet calm, and does not cause much vibration. But for doing physiology, it is not stable enough.
But we think for walking meditation, there is no need for a curved treadmill which cost 2 700 USD or more.
We have seen curved treadmills which are more light-weight. And one of these devices might be still robust enough for scientifically analyzing walking meditation. And walking meditation at 4 km/h works fine on a non-motorized curved treadmill
