Where are the publicly funded research projects about the long-term effect of meditation performed at top universities such as the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich?

  • Daniel Goleman is best selling book author about science & meditation, and he deals with topics as this since around 50 years:

But what do we find after 50 years of research of Daniel Goleman about this topic?

His book «Altered Traits»:

  • And many projects at the university level from which we reported which are most probably privately funded, which we have listed under this tag:

https://petergamma.org/tag/potential-secret-meditation-research-projects

  • Are there no meditation research projects at top universities in Switzerland, such as the Swiss Federal institute of Technology in Zurich?
  • What we find at the ETH Zuich is:
  • People who are registered there such as Alex Gamma:

https://ee.ethz.ch/de/departement/personen-a-bis-z/person-detail.MTMwNzkw.TGlzdC8zMjc5LC0xNjUwNTg5ODIw.html

  • And Alex Gamma who is registered at the ETH Zurich has written a PLOS one paper about meditation recently:
  • The Minimal Phenomenal Experience questionnaire (MPE-92M): Towards a phenomenological profile of “pure awareness” experiences in meditators

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/353246953_The_Minimal_Phenomenal_Experience_questionnaire_MPE-92M_Towards_a_phenomenological_profile_of_pure_awareness_experiences_in_meditators

  • And we find strange pictures of Alex Gamma, as for instance this one:

picture 1

picture 2

  • And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org does not know how to interpret those.
  • Are these given up research projects about meditation?
  • But for whom is all of this helpful?
  • Would not projects be of interest of long-term meditators who meditate between 17 – 20 years, how this affects their physiology, etc.?

For instance we found statements as:

“in the buddhist tradition, we are not completely healthy until we are completely enlightened”:

  • There are user reports of spiritual teachers about this, as for instance the reports of Milarepa.
  • But Peter Gamma does not know of long term studies about meditation which would be publicly funded.
  • And we do not know either of communities or monasteries which would be funded open and transparently.
  • One of the view exceptions is the Tibet Rikon Institute Monastry with the Rikon Foundation. A monastry which is not publicly funded but trough a foundation with with a foundation board:

https://www.tibet-institut.ch/content/tir/de/foundation_board.html

  • which is under federal supervision:

https://www.edi.admin.ch/edi/de/home/fachstellen/eidgenoessische-stiftungsaufsicht/stiftungsverzeichnis.html

  • And it not the Tibet Rikon Institute Monastry under the supervision of the media as well?
  • We found many reports asbout the Tibet Rikon Institute Monastry in the media.?
  • But for whom is the Tibet Institute Rikon Monastry?
  • For instance for the Tibetans who live in Switzerland?
  • As said in the following video:

Dr. Rudolf Högger Stiftungsratspräsident Tibet Institute 2004 – 2016 says, the Tibet Institute Rikon serves as a place:

  • to mourn
  • to find an advice
  • and to celebrate festivals

And it is also a place:

to make music in the morning according to the spiritual Tradition
of Tibetan Buddhism as shown here morning prayers of the monks:

Buddha has taught 84 000 teachings,
but to put that into very simple worlds,
is to have a good heart,
and what does it mean to have a good heart is,
to have the intention to free all beings
from physical and mental suffering.
And this is summarized the 84 000 teachings into simple words.

And since the monks in the Tibet Institute Rikon Monastry are followers of Buddha, they follow the teachings of the Buddha.

If you look for other centers in Switzerland whery they teach meditation, look for instance for the one of Fred von Allmen

  • Fred von Allmen (* 1943 in Bern) is one of the first Swiss teachers of Vipassana meditation
  • co-founder of the Beatenberg Meditation Center (Switzerland)
  • together with Ursula Flückiger
  • and others
  • author of a number of books on Buddhist practice
  • leader of meditation courses and retreats in
  • Knowledge -Meditation (Vipassana)
  • and compassion (Metta meditation)
  • worldwide.
