What is the advantage to have a Pinephone with a modem switch at the back?

  • You can control precisely when your location tracking is enabled.
  • If you don’t want that the governement or your mobile phone carrier tracks your Linux phone: remove your sim card or use a Pinephone.
  • A mobile phone carrier is a wireless service provider that supplies cellular connectivity services tomobile phone and tablet subscribers.
  • The cellular company you pay for your cell phone usage is either a mobile carrier or a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
  • The United States has only a few licensed mobile carriers, but many MVNOs.

Two devices cannot be tracked by Google or Apple: Linux phones and degoogled Android phones AOSP:

  • And Google is sharing this information with the governement.

And most probably also Peter Gamma’s data, since he is eventually suspected to be a terrorist by the governement, altough he his not:

  • We have no privacy with regular Android phones and IOS phones.
  • But Linux phones are phones fantastic for privacy
  • With a Linux phone the only ones who can track your phone is your cell phone carrier and the governement.

That the governement and the cell phone carrier tracks you can be temporarily be shut down by removing the SIM card or turning off the cell modem of the Librem 5 or the Pinephone:

  • Ubuntu Touch (UT) doesn’t scrape your data if you have for instance a Google Pixel 3 with Ubuntu Touch:.
  • But still with any mobile devices that connect to a mobile (cellular) network or WiFi is the point that they can be tracked (even if switched off).

And people in Switzerland are known for a lot of political referendums, since we have direct democracy in this country.
