William Croft from www.OpenBCI.com complained on a regular basis about us, as for instance:
- concerning Greentek EEG caps: «to sell individual components to dilute the business»:
- William Croft from www.OpenBCI.com is against it.
- Is www.OpenBCI.com the big business of William Croft?
- When we asked in the www.OpenBCI.com forum about the ADS1299 Performance Demonstration EEG Kit, William Croft anwered that it is not save to humans, and locked the thread.
- www.OpenBCI.com claims to be low-cost high-quality, but is William Croft against products which cost less than the products he sells in the OpenBCI shop and have the same high quality?
Alexandre Barachants mission is to bring a low-cost, Open Hardware, Research-grade EEG to the masses:
https://alexandre.barachant.org/
- When we mentioned the ADS1299 Performance Demonstration EEG Kit Alexandre Barachants personal website:
https://alexandre.barachant.org/blog/2017/03/02/Hands-on-OpenBCI-Ganglion.html
- We where contacted by William Croft from www.OpenBCI.com and he wrote us: «can’t you see that Aleandre Barachants site is about OpenBCI Ganglion?»
- Did William Croft offer the OpenBCI Ganglion to Alexandre Barachant for a review, and for him the site is now a promo site for OpenBCI Ganglion?
- We made similar experiences in the DC Rainmaker blog with critical posts about the Polar Verity Sense.
- William Croft from www.OpenBCI.com about our engagement for instance for cheap OpenBCI boards from China:
«Can’t you see that we only have an income from selling OpenBCI boards?»
The answer of the MRIS:
«So what can we do now? To buy expensive OpenBCI boards from you, which we can buy cheaper from China to support you? Why should we do this? Is your support that excellent that this is worth it? Why do you not buy OpenBCI boards from China as well, and sell those in the www.OpenBCI.com store at a price which is more competitive, so that the www.OpenBCI.com community stays alive? Since who wants to be part of a community who has to buy expensive OpenBCI boards from you to be part of your community, if we can buy cheaper boards from China?
Complaints in the EEV blog which we cannot follow and fight against it
- When we asked in the EEV blog how to make the ADS1299 Performance Demonstration EEG Kit:
- we received a tremendous amount of answers. Where these mostly Texas Instruments sellers?
- But we are physiologists, and not electronics engineers. To make the ADS1299 Performance Demonstration EEG Kit save for humans, is this not more a topic for engineering students than for physiologists?
- Shortly after that, we found Adam Feuers Hack EEG, which is also a low-cost high-quality EEG product, and the OpenBCI modules on eBay and Aliexpress.
- We mentioned that in the EEVblog
- Then we reveived answers that it is worrying how we always try to find affordable EEG products.
- If we want to start a research project with Ajahn Amaro from UK which has no money, we have to to this.
- We received further complaints in the EEVBLOG, and where asked, if the EEVBLOG is the right place for us.
- If the EEVBLOG is a place for Texas Instruments sellers to sell Texas Instruments products, then it is the wrong place.
So we started our own journal. And we share the same mission as Alexandre Barachant, and that is to bring a low-cost, open hardware, research-grade EEG to the masses
