Are uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) more power efficient than power banks?

  • We made a first test to power a Pi 4 with a 20`000 mAh power bank. We had an idle running time without display of around 8 hours of the Pi 4.
  • Now, we sah in the following video of Swiss YouTuber Andreas Spiess something we where very suprised about:
  • Spiess says in his YouTube video that 2 x 2`500 mAh = 5000 mAh batteries power a Pi for more than 10 hours (indicated at 7 min. in the above video).
  • Why do 2 x 2500 mAh batteries have a longer battery life than our 20`000 mAh power bank?
  • These 2`500 mAh batteries are much smaller than our 20`000 mAh power bank, but have a longer battery life?
  • How is this possible? Is the value of 10 hours battery life only a theoretical value which is calculated which canno be reached in real life?
  • Or can we reach a longer battey life with an uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) than with power banks?
