Twister OS armbian running on Radxa zero demo by Explaining Computers

  • The armbian demo starts at 8:30
  • The demo device has 4 GB RAM and runs Twister OS armbian focal beta 4
  • Libre Office writer works
  • GIMP image editor works
  • Vivaldi web browser works
  • in contrast, browsers do not work on the Mango Pi Pro running armbian
  • YouTube video playback runs quiet smooth, but it is not recommended as a streaming video playback device
  • It is not possible to boot from the SD card without additional software

  • If we look back, this demo of Explaining Computes is for us personally the best demo which we know which shows what can be done with ARM based small form factor single board computers running armbian.

  • The situation with the different small form factor single board computers is similar to the situation with the different distros on the Pinephone. Linux devices raise high expectations what can be done with those by users.

  • But with the Pinephone, we saw many demos about different distros what can be done with those, and then it became quiet.

  • The Pinephone pro came on the market, but there where no giant steps, only small steps done by developers, which we are, but we are not Linux phone and armbian small form factor single board computer developers.

As a rule of thumbs we can say, most of the things which work and are interesting for users are shown in YouTube videos. And if no demo video is available, the chance is big, that the feature users are looking for is not there.
