According to this paper:

Lin LI. A concordance correlation coefficient to evaluate reproducibility. Biometrics 1989;45:255-68. 10.2307/2532051

which has been cited 8231 times to this date, the requirements for gold standard for HR measurement are:

  • a 3 lead ECG device
  • The Mason-Likar electrode placement
  • a trained person who controls the heart rate measurement

The OpenBCI Cyton is a 3 lead ECG device, the Polar H10 is only a single lead ECG device and does not meet these requirements. If we do not meet those, we will always be confronted with the question: “is your heart rate monitor accurate enough for you application”, and we have to deliver this proof to be taken serious.
