Sensors can super easily connected over an ESP32 module to Home assistant. There are tons of demos for this as for instance this one:
We can also connect those also to InfluxDB over RestAPI solutions. Which one is better? If you are a demo maker or developing a community project, we believe that Home Assistant is the better choice. There is InlfuxDB plugin, we can join sensor with sensors which are already integrated into Home Assistant.
We think that for many devices which are not very often used, community projects are better than to develop special applications. Special applications die soon. If they are not popular and if it is not possible to make a lot of money out of those, they are not developed further, and start to annoy costumers, which need a new development. Community projects are taken over by other community members, and can be updated sometimes 10 years after the last change, as the example of Abiword shows.
