The Raspberry Pi 4 is available at Digitec Switzerland for 60 USD, and also Raspberry Pi OS is available for free, an OS which has been developed over the last 10 years for the Pi’s, and many issues have been resolved.
The Orange Pi 5 is not available at Digitec, it has several OS, but which one is free from issues?
The Raspberry Pi 4 is not 200 USD anymore as it was during Corona. And even if Raspberry Pi Inc. goes bancrupt tomorrow or only sells the Raspberry Pi 4 for industry for 1 000 USD but not to private users, the stock of Raspberry Pi 4 on eBay is large. And the Pi 4 is a device of a high quality.
And even if Raspberry Pi would disappear from the market for private users tomorrow, there are SBCs available such as the Orange Pi 5 to replace it. But aren’t most of those in an early stage of development compared to the Pi 4, and do they not remember us with their issues to the Pinephone or to Pi’s 10 years ago? The hardware might be more advanced than that of the Pi 4, but what is this compared to a software development over 10 years for the Raspberry Pi OS including issue resolving.
The Raspberry Pi 5 is also available at Digitec Switzerland, but we won’t discuss the Raspberry Pi 5.
