The problem Google Inc. caused to me since years is solved in theory: Softmaker Office for Android allows to read/write to an usb flash drive connected to an Android phone

  • it requires usb OTG
  • It tried this with an usb OTG stick

How to use OTG usb Android is shown here:

  • I use a Samsung Galaxy S7
  • I need to switch on OTG manually
  • I tried several OTG apps
  • With the USB Connector OTG USB Driver app the usb OTG stick is recognized and shows how much storage is on it.

If your usb OTG appears in your file manger, you can read/write to it with Softmaker for Android:

  • I failed to this date to write with Softmaker for Android on the external USB OTG storage.
  • But I think it is worth testing further.

Remark:

  • Unfortunately we need Google Play for Softmaker Office for Android:

The Softmaker Team wrote us:

«Dear customer, Unfortunately, the Google Play Store is the only place where you can get SoftMaker Office apps for Android. Best regards, SoftMaker Team»

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=softmaker+office+nx&c=apps&hl=de_CH

  • So if we use a GrapheneOS phone we need to install the Google Apps Store to use Softmaker for Android.
