Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org has made a big effort to review products based on the Texas Instruments ADS1299 EEG chip. Products from www.openbci.com are on the market since 10 years and well-known all over the world. But according to Fieldtrip developer Robert Oostenveld, OpenBCI Cyton still has issues:
This issues can be resolved in principle. One of the issues of products from www.openbci.com is that users complained that they are hardly developed further and expensive. A big issue for us personally is the WIFI shield, which was available, but never brought back onto the market as a repaired version.
Several years ago OpenBCI products started also selling on Aliexpress and eBay. These are currently sold at a lower price, but users complained that these products have issues.
Several soft- and hardware developers have made a big effort to test these devices.
As for instance Stellarpower, who tested a 16 channel version of OpenBCI made in China with WIFI shield:

And jenelson had issues with the connector between Cyton and Wifi shield:

alwayswearshats made extensive tests with the Wifi shield hardware and how to repair it:
furthermore the software issues of the Wifi shield are known and resolved:

The Neurosity Crown and the OpenBCI Galea contain an OpenBCI Wifi shield which works. Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org did not test all of these components, but reviewed those for many years. And he thinks all the information is here to repair OpenBCI made in China:
