The impressive curriculum vitae of Meditation Master Lama Pema Wangyal, Founder of the Drukpa Kargyü Center in Kollbrunn in Switzerland

Lama Pema Wangyal is a meditation master who teaches at the Drukpacenter Kullbrunn:

  • The Ev. Acharya Pema Wangyal, Kagyu, was born in Orissa in 1976
  • He went to a Tibetan school in Mussoorie.
  • When he was a little boy he always told his mother, “I want to enter a monastery”.
  • At the age of nine his mother allowed him to enter the local Buddhist monastery school Dudul Rabtenling, Tibetan settlement Odisha.
  • At the age of twelve he moved to Bhutan to the Ralung Shedrupling monastery.
  • At the age of seventeen he entered the Thubten Sangag Choeling monastery in Darjeeling, a training center of the Drukpa Kargyud tradition, to learn classical Buddhist teachings and yogi teachings and practices.
  • There he studied the basics of Buddhist philosophies and practices.
  • The famous yogi and great master Umze Sherab Gyatso introduced him to the teachings of Ngondro.
  • This teaching is the basis of the retreat offered and is practiced daily.
  • He has received the full teachings and initiations of the Drukpa lineage from:
  • His Holiness the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa
  • His Eminence Yogi and Master Sengdrak Rinpoche, the current Dharma King of Bhutan
  • His Holiness Jekhenpo Jigme Choedrag
  • and the late His Holiness Jekhenpo Tenzin Dhondrup.
  • In addition, I received initiations and practices from the Jangter Nyingma school from the late Master Taglung Tsetrul Rinpoche.
  • Various Drukpa masters trained him and imparted to him the knowledge and techniques of Buddhist ritual, music and the creation of mandalas.
  • He attended the DKD college at the TSC monastery in Darjeeling
  • He received lessons in science, English and Hindi.

From 1999 until his departure for Switzerland in September 2006, he studied the Indian and Tibetan classics of Buddhist philosophy, Sanskrit and English at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, University of Varanasi.

  • He led the rituals for the Kagyud Relief Fund of the CUTS University as a cantor.
  • Since 2001 he has been involved in the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Movement and do volunteer work in social services.

From 2006 to 2022 he was the representative of the Kagyü school at the Tibet Institute Rikon and worked as a meditation master and yoga teacher for more than 16 years.

  • He was also the spiritual supervisor and advisor for Tibetans belonging to the Kagyü.

During his monastic work at the Tibet Institute Rikon, he studied elementary scientific knowledge for six years and organized and led many tours of the Rikon Monastery with companies, school groups, student groups and organizations.

  • In 2017 he studied Sinology and Psychology at the University of Zurich.

On February 15, 2023, he opened his new Drukpa Kargyü Center in Kollbrunn for the benefit of all interested Swiss citizens, as well as Tibetans belonging to the Drukpa Kagyül
