The Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen wrote a paper about the accuracy of the Polar H10 and compares it to a Holter ECG:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31004219/
The conclusion of the paper is that the Polar H10 is gold standard for activities with strong body movements. But ECG devices have problems with ECG movement artefacts, which eventually can be solved. We have discussed it in detail in our journal.
Next to Monclair State University the The Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen is one of the view research institute who has the capacity and eventually also the money to discuss accuracy questions about the Polar H10, the Adinstruments Equivital, the Apple watch 8 and other ECG devices at a scientific level. But the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen does not do this. The MRIS is left alone with this discussion. And Rob ter Horst takes advantage of the situation and promotes that the Apple watch 8 is close to the Polar H10, which has the “best heart rate” with 99.6 accuracy. This value is from the Magglingen paper. But is this paper not dubious, if it says only half the truth.
We are disappointed about the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen. Is this the Service public of the Swiss Federal Institute of Sports in Magglingen, to leave the MRIS alone, so that Rob ter Horst can continue to promote the Apple watch 8 instead of 3 lead ECG devices which are gold standard for weak body movements?
