It is for Peter Gamma, Physiologist & Director of the Mediation Research Institute Switzerland (MRIS) absolutely incomprehensible how a post-doctoral scientist like Rob ter Horst:
https://www.robterhorst.com/cv
can make smartwatches to his research topic, and test 100 of these devices, and publish the results on YouTube:
And give the impression to simple people that these devices are very accurate devices which are worth to be tested by a post-doctoral scientists. Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org is therefore very happy about the papers of Dr. Milind Desai from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio:
in which consumer grade heart rate monitors where tested. To bring all of this information together we wrote a review about this topic about the scientific papers which are available about smartwaches:
And now Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org is convinced about it, that the 100 smartwatches Rob ter Horst tested are consumer grade devices which shows «some numbers», but are basically not suitable for scientific studies.
For Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org it is absolutely incomprehensible that Rob ter Horst does not review the scientific literature as well about smartwatches. And especially the fact that since Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org. wrote a review about the papers which are available about the accuracy of smartwatches:
hardly any new papers have been published about the accuracy of smartwatches. And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org is convinced that many scientists have tested the accuracy of these smartwaches, and came to the conclusion that they are very little suitable for scientific purposes, since they do not deliver reproducable data, are data which can poorly be reproduced. Since it is well known that for heart rate data to be reproducable, at least a 3 channel ECG device is required. We have discussed this intensively under www.petergamma.org.
