We have given up consumer grade optical heart rate monitors for the time being, since we do not know of anybody who uses these or similar devices for clinical or research applications, and we do not know if data measured with these devices can be reproduced. We therefore decided for 3 channel ECG devices which are used for medical and research applications.
But now we found a Nature paper which uses a single lead ECG device for meditation research:
And we are very happy about this paper. But from a Nature paper to a practical application takes time. And we hope that the computer scientists and electro engineers from Plum Village help us with this project, and if there aren’t any of those there eventually other people interested in this topic.
