Saravanan AL from India says the Orange Pi 3 is the best alternative to Raspberry Pi – is this a paid promotionial YouTube video?

  • by default Android is installed on the eMMC, but touch screen does not work
  • He shows how to install Debian
  • He demonstrates how to connect it to WIFI in Debian
  • He shows tightvnc server installation
  • He shows a remote desktop connection to a PC from the Orange Pi in headless operation.
  • Saravanan AL from India shows in this video what the Orange Pi 3 LTS can be used for in a demo, but does he use this device as a daily driver?
  • The problem with these YouTube video makers is that we suppose that they receive demo devices for free and only show what is working and never mention any issues.

Aren’t a majority of the videos by YouTube video makers basically promotional videos for the devices? Do they get these devices for free in exchange for a review? And do they not have to make these videos for reasons they do not publish? For instance since employment offices want them to make these videos?

  • We think it is worth to keep an eye on Orange SBCs, but we listed also a lot ot negative aspects about Orange Pis in our journal which make us not to use those or even buy those and test those.
  • We do not trust that everything works on the Orange Pi s
  • Usually only the applications which are demonstrated, and what is not shown does not work.

And where does Saravanan AL proof that the Orange Pi 3 is the best alternative to Raspberry Pi? For us personally the best alternative to the latest Pi is not to choose the latest Pi which can become short again. The best alternative is the previous Pi model from which there is a big stock on eBay. And also a big community of testers and users who have shared their experience and have reported about it. Orange Pis lacks of these advantages.
