Rob ter Horsts tests with smartwatches are not reproducible but those about 3 channel ECG devices

Rob ter Horsts tests about smartwatches are not reproducible since he does not publish his testing protocols. What might be the reason not to publish theses protocols? This fit s very well to what we have learned previously about reproducibility. We have mentioned this in our journal, after studying the protocols of the Cleveland Clinic papers they have chosen for their tests:

For heart rate measurements to be reproducible:

  • a 3 channel ECG device
  • the correct ECG placement
  • a trained person who checks every single ECG peak

Check the correct details in the scientific literature, but all of this is required for heart rate measurements to be reproducible and to have a gold standard device for HR measurements. If these requirements are not fulfilled we have to proof that the measurements are reproducible for instance in a validation paper.

Did the promoters of optical heart rate monitors previously test those and did they find out previously that they deliver data which cannot be reproduced? And do they make now big efforts so that we cannot find out about this?
