This video shows a more basic sensor:

below the video:

  • Build your own Arduino breathing monitor to measure chest and belly breathing, and use it for a science project!
  • Complete instructions including a parts list, circuit diagram, and example code are available on the Science Buddies website:

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/project-ideas/HumBio_p055/human-biology-health/train-belly-breathing

  • There is a respiration belt which is much more sensitive than the one shown in the above video
  • You can find it by google for:

«Respiratory Heart Rate Piezoelectric Sensor Nursing Home Hospital Smart Mattress Breathing Belt Sleep Belt»

  • This belt is also sold as a sleep monitor
  • Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org tested it.
  • We where able to just lay on the belt. And the Happy Sleep app detected the breathing movement very strongly, which is a hint that this belt is very sensitive.
  • It is most probably also used in more expensive respiration belts of BIOSIGNALS.
  • We suppose that this belt can also be attached to OpenBCI instead of an Arduino
  • ask in the www.openbci.com forum for it.
