Respiration rate from Neurokit2 Python Toolbox?

Whe had a quick look at NeuroKit GITHUB, and found out that they use a respiration belt for respiration rate:

– Peter H. Charltons Matlab toolbox for respiratory rate uses R-R peak or PPG peak data, can be calibrated, and can also be used for clinical applications.

Currently not supported: Vernier Go Direct Respiration Belt

Respiration belts are expensive, motion artifacts can occur. We tested this with the Go Direct Respiration Belt, which eventually also works with the software. Unfortunately, we experienced that the Go Direct Respiration Belt continues to monitor respiration of the belt if the device is detached from the chest. We suppose that there is a moving average algorithms integrated with a long time window. The pros of the Go Direct Respiration Belt is that it is affordable:

The device is is supported by the SDK from Vernier.

Currently not supported: Aliexpress respiration belt

– we also found a respiration belt on Aliexress, which is very affordable and sensitive. It can be synchronized over the Apple health kit to Home Assistant and InfluxDB. But we do not know which data are synchronized by the device to Home Assistant and InfluxDB. The link can be found on our journal.

Eventually, these devices can also be integrated in the Neurokit 2, to have several respiration monitors integrated.
