Bodhisattva means “enlightened being”
In Mahayana Buddhism, bodhisattvas are described as beings striving for the highest knowledge who strive for “Buddhahood” on the path of “virtue perfection” or realize it within themselves in order to use it for the salvation of all living beings.
And «Bodhisattva in Progress» is the name of the YouTube channel we can find videos about Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche:
Progress report of Peter Gamma from the Meditation Research Insititute Switzerland (MRIS)
To become a Bodhisattva is not that diffult. Just take a stack of books with you about Tibetan Buddhism and go into solitary retreat for 13 years and to a full-time training there to become a Bodhisattva, as Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche did it:
But what is very difficult is to find a funder, or get a research grant for this. Also in a rich country such as in Switzerland.
Dilgo Khyentse spent many years with Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro (1893-1959) receiving empowerments and teachings. When he told his teacher after 13 of full-time training that he wanted to spend the rest of his life in solitary retreats, Chokyi Lodro answered,
“The time has come for you to teach and transmit to others the precious teachings you have received.”
Did this mean that he was a Bodhisattva now, and was able to teach and transmit to others the precious teachings you have received? But Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org still regret’s that Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche did not have an fMRI brain scanner in his cave and studied on a regular basis what happened in his brain during his practice. This scientific data would be very helpful for Peter to convince others that it does not make any sense to offer Peter scientific tools such as a Polar H10 chest strap, an Apple watch Ultra, or a Unicorn Hybrid Black by g.tec medical engineering for his practice.
He needs at least a g.Nautilus Multi-Purpose EEG Headset for this.
But is this device really worth 50 000 USD? Peter can have the basic hardware components for this 32 channel EEG Headset for 500 USD. And if he has enough time, he can also build it by himself. And wy should he take out a loan for it, which he eventually never is able to pay back, since he does not know if this device is suitable to teach meditation based on a scientific findings, and finds students to to make money out of it?
And how can he find students, if he one day would say: «you can become my student, but you have to buy a g.Nautilus Multi-Purpose EEG Headset for 50 000 USD for it. So will Peter ever find a student who is ready to pay that much money to become his student? And furthemore Peter’s students have to pay for Peter’s teachings, so that he can refund the loan he had to take to buy his own g.Nautilus Multi-Purpose EEG Headset, to be able to teach meditation based on scientific findings using a g.Nautilus Multi-Purpose EEG Headset by gtec medical engineering. All of this is very difficult to make it real, also in a rich country such as Switzerland.
