Poor co-ordination of Buddhist Centers in Switzerland?

Last Updated on July 29, 2024 by pg@petergamma.org

Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org has reported about different Buddhist Centers in Switzerland. All of these centers are great. But the Meditation Research Institute Switzerland (MRIS) misses a better co-ordingation between those centers.

Felsentor Retreat Center

  • Million heir and Zen priest Vanja Palmers is donor and president of the Felsentor.
  • The Felsentor is a beautiful retreat center in the heart of Switzerland.
  • And we ask, is it inspired by the Spirit Rock Meditation Center where Jack Kornfield teaches?
  • But do we have a Jack Kornfield who teaches at the Felsentor?
  • Vanja Palmers teaches there.
  • Palmers says he was not able to induce the same mental states with meditation as with drugs. Vanja offers among other courses Zen with animals courses on the Rigi mountain, and he is:

“particularly concerned with the rehabilitation of those substances that have given his life a fundamentally new, expanded perspective, within the framework of scientific or therapeutic application:”

  • So Is Vanja Palmers the Jack Kornfield of the Felsentor? What is your opinion about this topic? Write it in the comments below.
  • And the Felsentor is near Lucerne, but still at a place in the landscape, and it take time to go there.

Drupa Center Kollbrunn

  • Lama Pema Wangyal teaches there.
  • He taught for 17 years in the Rikon Tibet Institute Monastry, which he left in the year 2023.
  • We know him now mainly from his YouTube channel YogTrack, which has only very litte view.
  • If Pema Wangyal would teach at the Felsentor, would he not attract new students to go up there?
  • Is the Felsentor completely booked out?
  • And if not, why not?

Lhagsam Tibetan Meditation Zurich

  • The Center is in the heart of Zurich.
  • But only once a week teachings happen there, as far as we know.
  • Why do we not have a teacher there such as Pema Wangyal?
  • Would Pema not have many students if he would teach in Zurich?
  • Is the Laghsam center empty if it is not occupied by Lhagsam teachings?
  • Why is it not occupied then by Pema Wangyal who teaches the rest of the time there?
  • And why are these centers not better co-ordingated?

Could not

  • the Felsentor Foundation
  • the Laghsam study coordingator
  • Lama Pema Wangyal

change someting about this situation?

Or could the Swiss Buddhist Union (SBU)change something about this?

The Swiss Buddhist Union (SBU) is a Swiss association within the meaning of Art. 60 ff. of the Swiss Civil Code. The SBU is the umbrella organization of Buddhists in Switzerland and has its headquarters in Bern.[1] It was founded in 1978[2] and has 125 individual members and 47 group members (as of November 2011).
