The Swiss decided already in 1291 not to accept any foreign occupation:

- on August 1, 1291, the representatives recorded the oath in a federal document, thereby reaffirming their mutual loyalty.
- Many years later, the Swiss declared August 1st a national holiday in honor of their independence.
- The most important people’s rights at the Swiss federal level were introduced in 1874 with the optional legal referendum and in 1891 with the constitutional initiative.
At that time, Switzerland became the country with the most developed direct democracy in the world.

Today there are over 7`500 Tibetans who live in Switzerland. Where not most of these in Zurich at the recent stopover of the Dalai Lama in 2024?
Would these 7`500 Tibetans live in Switzerland without the Chinese occupation? This is hard to believe. Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org has put therefore products from China on his blacklist:
