- Loten Dahortsang was born in Lhasa, Tibet in 1968.
- In 1979 he went to Nepal and entered Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s Kopan Monastery.
- He has lived in the monastic institute in Rikon Switzerland since 1982.
- He was trained by his uncle,
- Gesche Jampa Lodro
- Tulku Lama Lodro Rinpoche
- the monastery’s former abbots
- Gesche Ugyen Tseten and
- Gesche Gedün Sangpo
- Since 2002 he has been undergoing further training in Buddhist epistemology at the Sera Monastery University in South India
- and since 2006 in several years of in-depth meditation and studies on the Kalachakra Tantra in the Jonang Monastery in North India.
- He leads meditation sessions at Rikon Monastery and at Buddhist centers in Europe.
