- The Vernier belt is one of the most affordable and easiest real-time respiration rate monitor we know
- The belt can be paired to the Vernier desktop software and measures force and respiration rate in real-time
known issues:
Issue 1:
- We do not know if it is accurate, and we do not know, if it is more accurate than a Garmin Fenix 6 which is only accurate at 12 breath per minute
Issue 2:
- The belt continues to measure force and respiration rate for 45 minutes after the belt is removed from the chest.
- We have described this issue before:
- We informed John Melville, PhD. Director of Biology, Vernier Software & Technology about the issue, but we do not know if it still exists
- John Melville says in this demo video, that respiration rate display is delayed, since a rate is calculated:
- We do not know if this delay affect the respiration rate accuracy
Issue 3
- Vernier offers an SDK, if the Vernier respiration rate monitor is accurate, we miss a Python example which streams respiration rate data into SQlite and InfluxDB
Issue 4
- We miss an example which connects the Vernier belt to a Python data analysis software, as for instance to the Neurokit2 software or Home Assistant.
