Issues we have with the K68 60% Keyboard Bluetooth & 2.4GHz dual mode – suitable for the Linux pinephone?

Last Updated on October 5, 2023 by pg@petergamma.org

Issue 1:

  • we only found it on Ricardo Switzerland.

https://www.ricardo.ch/de/a/k68-60-mechanische-mini-gaming-tastatur-bluetooth-2-4ghz-1242532456/

  • Is this because a marketing software is crawling our site and wants to sell every screw we mention to make money out of us? No chance!

Issue 2:

  • in the descripton on Ricardo Switzerland it says it is a Mini Gaming Tastatur Bluetooth & 2,4GHz, but Roberto Alsina says it is a usb-c keyboard, what is true now?

Issue 3:

  • Roberto Alsina used it to build a laptop from a Radxa zero but does not mention that it eventually also works with the Linux pinephone which only accept selected peripherals:

Issue 4:

  • according to this picture it is one of the smallest keyboards which eventually can be used for the Pinephone:
  • it measures 30 cm x 10 cm:
  • Why is it so difficult to find it and little discussed?

Issue 5:

  • according to the above image it has an usb type c dual purpose receiver
  • it is badly documented that it means it supports both Bluetooth and 2.4 Ghz connectivity as the Rii mini 4

Issue 6:

  • it is only a keyboard and has not trackpad integrated

Issue 7:

  • It is small but not really small so that it is an outstanding keyboard for mobile applications or the Pinephone.

Issue 8:

  • It is neither outstanding small nor outstandig big or ajustable in size by the buyer, and it takes a lot of time to review it, since it is poorly documented.

Issue 9:

  • It is used in the demo mentioned above for a TRS 80 alternative, but the TRS 80 is a huge device:
  • Who uses a keyboard at this size for the Pinephone?

Issue 10

  • It is a dual Bluetooth and 2.4 Ghz keyboard and works eventually with the Pinephone, but did Pinephone developers Martijn Braam not already find a better one and has demonstrated it, since it has additionally a mouse track pointer?
