  • Discuss it with your lawyer, if William Croft’s statement does not violate the rights of Chinese sellers.
  • William Croft’s statement is wrong.
  • We know of user reports which say that they have issues with the OpenBCI WIFI shield bought from Chinese sellers.
  • But we do not know of user reports exept from William Croft who say that OpenBCI modules bought from Chinese seller are notorious not working correctly.
  • Furthermore, OpenBCI is an open source product. Can whe say that there are “original” OpenBCI modules and “clone” OpenBCI modules? No.
  • But the Chinese sellers should respect the “Unspoken Rules of Open Source Hardware”:
  • The documentation at https://openbci.com/ is open and can be edited by everyone. But can we trust this documentation? Who is hosting it, and who pays for the domain?
  • The OpenBCI forum is not open. Sometimes theads will be locked. Who has the right to lock threads?
  • And what is exactly the reason for locking the forum? Are there any rules?
  • The reason forum master say is often “spamming”. But is this reason which is given often not justified?
