There are positive user reports about the Raspberry Pi zero w2. We can find many users reports of the Raspberry Pi zero w2 who bought the device and published instructions about those in the web. But aren’t these dangerous as well, are these again entangled reviewers which makes those to seller, other sellers, similar as with other devices?
We have bough one Raspberry Pi zero w2 on Ricardo Switzerland and did some preliminary tests, we reviewed intensively the other devices, but we did not buy those.
During your reviews the price for the Raspberry Pi zero w2 shoot up from 40 USD to 105 USD on Aliexpress, the only place where the device is currently sold of which we know. We bought the Raspberry Pi zero w2 for 105 USD at Ricardo Switzerland instead of 40 USD on Aliexpress for which it was sold at the time we stared reviewing the device.
During our reviews, we published in our journal the price for the Raspberry Pi zero w2 for 105 USD. We bought it there and not on Aliexpress, to have a device quickly, if we would have bought it on Aliexpress, delivery time would have been 2-3 weeks.
Is it by coincidence that shortly after that, the price for Raspberry Pi zero w2 shoot up also in Aliexress to 105 USD, shortly after we have communicated that the device is available at Ricardo Switzerland, where it was sold for 105 USD?
Following the arguments we have discussed here, we do not know of a convincing alternative to the Raspberry Pi zero w2. And if the Raspberry Pi zero w2 is device with which sellers to stock market speculations and shoot up prices for the device, is it not a reason not to buy the device?
We will for that reason not continue to review the Raspberry Pi zero w2. We do not want to depend on the Raspberry Pi zero w2, for which is currently no convincing alternative. And the seller eventually takes advantage of the situation and increases to price for this devices arbitrarily.
There are many user reports about the Raspberry Pi zero w2. One reason to buy this device was the price of 15 for which it starts selling. Now, it costs 105 dollars. For what reasons? To do stock market speculations with costumers which have choosen the device since it is affordable?
These costumers certainly will choose another device. Also we personally think that the Raspberry Pi 3 which can be bought used for 20 USD is a good alternative to the Raspberry Pi zero w2. It needs a bigger battery than the Raspberry Pi zero w2, but is as powerful as it and it’s low price is stable. An alternative for us personally is also the Orange Pi 5, since it is powerful and can run armbian. But we do not know yet anything about the battery running time of this device. We would prefer a low power single board computer which is optimized to draw little power.
The Raspberry pi zero w2 with it’s current specifications, politics about price and availability has issues. We currently have one Raspberry zero 2 w and three Raspberry 3 device, which we never used, but will test those now with a big battery. But we will change to other devices as soon as possible, and we suppose that there will be better alternatives sooner or later.
