Is the Orange Pi 5 a good Raspberry Pi 4 alternative?

Last Updated on May 4, 2023 by pg@petergamma.org

According to our own little experience that the Orange Pi 5 has the potential to be a good alternative for users who suffer from the terrible procedure of Raspberry Pi:

  • We did not test the Orange Pi 5 by ourselves, and do not know if this even is worth it.
  • hardly any new devices available due to Corona
  • exorbitant prices for used devices
  • Fedora supports the Raspberry Pi 4 although it is not usable on the device according to a reviewer, but Raspberry Pi has no powerful alternative.
  • The successor model Raspberry Pi 5 is delayed for the year 2024.
  • We have competing products like the Orange Pi 5 that have contemporary performance, what the Raspberry Pi 4 does not have.

What we personally miss with the Orange Pi 5 are users who confirm that we can work with the device as a daily driver.
