We have described here the situation of meditation teachers in Switzerland and how to make a living from it:
But how is it to get a research grant for meditation research? EEGLAB devoper Arnaud Delorme made significant contributions to meditation research as for instance described here:
Neural correlation of meditation
Arnaud Delorme writes on his personal website:
«As a meditator, I have always been fascinated with human consciousness, and how to try to understanding both inwardly (though meditation) and outwardly (using the scientific method). I oriented my career to attempt to understand consciousness during meditation and obtained a Varela award from the Mind and Life fundation in 2004 (the first year it was instated). With my colleague Rael Cahn, we first observed that meditators in the Vipassana tradition tend to exhibit higher gamma activity as shown below for scalp electrode Oz [1].»
And Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org knows Arnaud Delorme as an excellent reviewer about meditation research.
But what about the future of Arnaud Delorme’s meditation research project? Is it difficult to get a research grant for meditation research? In the following video, Arnaud Delorme talks about the future of meditation research:
Arnaud Delorme talks in this video about student projects. Only student projects? But what is about Arnaud Delorme himself? Did he stop doing research on meditation? Did he not receive a grant for future meditation research projects? Or has he lost his interest in meditation research? Here we found other project of Arnaud Delorme on YouTube about:
Channelling at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS):
Near death experience at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS):
But Arnaud Delorme’s is also Investigating Mediums’ Brainwaves at
the Spiritist Medical Association:
The U.S. Spiritist Medical Association (SMA-US), a non-profit educational organization created in 2006, supports and advances the paradigm of integrative medicine in its goal to bridge medicine and spirituality.
And now we found also “Monday Meditations” with Arnaud Delorme at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS):
But the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is on the list of Questionable Organizations by Stephen Barrett, M.D.:
This is not the first time we have heard that the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) is controversial.
So what can we conclude from this? Where is Richard Davidson’s meditation research project after «Altered Traits»? And where is the meditation research project of Arnaud Delorme? Is it difficult to get a grant for meditation research? What is your opinion about this topic? Write it in the comments below.
