BITalino claims to be low cost. But what experienced in reality is, that as soon as we where interested in respiration belts, new devices appeared on the market, as if someone wanted to sell these devices to us. Do these new devices primarily benefit BITalino, so that they can develop a knew device and charge the costs for it s development?
No ECG devices appeared on the marked, which seem to be targeted at us:
This model from a picture o the BITalino store looks beautiful. Also the new BITalino chest strap looks great. But this is an ECG device, and ECG devices most probably have ECG motion artifacts starting from 15 km/h on? Did someone ever test this BITalino chest strap to see, if it really works? And what sense makes an ECG chest strap, which can only be used for runs up to 15 km/m. Does it serve primarily the device developer, which can charge the costs for the developement to the European Union. Then, as we many other demos we discussed in this blog, these demos only encrease costs for the devices. Does someone buy these devices, which does not make sense to us personally. And does someone care about being careful with spending money. For instance spending money which we receive from research grants.
But none of these was really a competition to established devices, which would lower the costs. Also new validation study papers appeared in sensors. But do we have a community of scientist who uses this devices, discusses them and test those. Are the all entangled to each other.
Who uses BITalino devices for research? BITalino has a very large store with cases and sets and devices and devices. But we know of no one who uses those. Which really serious researcher uses BITalino to do physiology? We write reviews in our journal, and someone else profits from it by selling new products. But not we profit from these products, but the developer, who charges the costs to someone, who then increases the costs for this devices. We felt cheated several times by this procedure. And are there no self-responsible people, who take responsibility for what they do. Is it because there are too litte control mechanisms which stop developements which do not make any sense?
