The simplest definition of a spritiual teacher is a teacher who cares about the development of the personality of his students. Spiritual teachers at the highest level are for instance Thich Nhat Hanh, Yogi Bhajan, the Dalai Lama the 14 th, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Loten Dahortsang, etc.
We can have a Certificate training “Tibetan Spiritual Coaching 1” with spiritual teacher Loten Dahortsang who lives in Switzerland with a training which includes 3 modules (60 hours in total):
But this cannot be compared to a Master’s degree for spiritual teachers of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich which we suppose would take about 13 years as we discuss here in our journal:
And cannot be compared to a spiritual teacher at the highest level based on scientific findings which hardly exist to this date. Rare examples of teachers of the highest level who teach meditation based on scientific findings are Jon Kabat-Zinn and Zindel V. Segal. A rare example of a spiritual teacher with a scientific background is Jack Kornfield. And we suppose all of these have done a training which can be compared to a a Master’s degree for spiritual teachers of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich which we suppose would take about 13 years as we discuss here in our journal as far as the time they have spent for their training is concerned.
