How long to practice every day?

In this video, Richard Davidson predicts, that emotional hygiene will be in the future part of our daily lifes, like brush your teeth. He describes this as a training, like going to a fitness center, etc.

But how long should this training last?

Richard Davidson showed, that a training of 20 min has an effect on the brain which can be measured in an objectifely measurable way. Richard Davidson meditates for 20 min a day, and also Mathieu Ricard, as they said.

For masters of yoga and meditation, this emotional hygiene is already a reality and part of their daily lifes, and part of their teachings.

Yogi Bhajan in Sadhana:

«Majority of you do not understand, that Sadhana (Kundalini Yoga Training in the morning) is not a joke. Sadhana is self. So any day you don t do your Sadhana, you have lost yourself to yourself. Sadhana we never do for neighbours, Sadhana we never do for pleasing god, Sadhana whe never do for anything. Sadhana whe only do so that we can be clear headed and clear concious.

If you can control yourself between these two hours in the morning and in the evening, you can never not be have good prospects, you cannot not be very satisfied and not happy. «

«The greatest tragedy on this planet is, you have philosophy about religion, about spirituality, but you do not have mental clarity. But what we do is that we try to clarifiy ourselfes mentally. And meditation has never been a priority to some people. Because technologically, if you don t meditate every day, and suppose you don t meditate every day, it is just equal to not to take a shower every day, or not to clean your house every day. You can afford to get into the bed and get out of the bed. that is not anybodys concern. But sooner or later, it will show up in your behaviour (if you don t mediate).You shall be in a position either to clean yourself and to keep yourself clean, or you are just a mess….You have knowledge, will you digest it? No, you won t. And that chaos will be very powerful.

Richard Davidson, Mathieu Ricard practice 20 min of meditation every day, masters of yoga and meditation like the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hahn, and Yogi Bhajan practice yoga and meditation between 3 and 4 hours a day:

Dalai Lama: between 3 and four 4 hours in the morning (different cources)

Yogi Bhajan: 2 hours in the morning an 2 hours in the evening.

Thich Nhat Hahn: 4 hours a day (source can be found when you whatch all his Youtube videos)

These masters of yoga and meditation follow a spiritual path of knowledge, a knowledge which has been accumulated in their traditions over centuries.

Shall we learn from great masters of yoga and meditation, which say: «practice four hours of yoga and mediation a day», or shall we learn from Richard Davidson and Mathieu Richard, which do it for 20 mins every day?

Which persons are experienced guiding stars, which persons do whe accept as spiritual teachers an follow them? It is up to you, it is your decision.
