Gounthar from the armbian forum tested the MangoPi MQ Quad SBC with an usb-c hub & usb-c hat but unfortunately he had issues with both

  • Is gounthar from the armbian forum a seller who wants us to debug a device for him so that he can sell it to us?
  • He says he is a father of two, husband of one, geek in denial, fond of handheld devices since 1989, beekeepeer and permie

  • But he could be seller who has given up the device all the same, and want to see if others get it to work all the same.

  • We suggested previously in our journal to test usb-c hubs and usb-c hats with the MangoPi MQ Quad SBC, but it seems that Gounthar from the armbian forum already tried this and failed:

  • The Debian image which is supplied with the MangoPi MQ Quad SBC boots
  • the USB-C hub (with Ethernet) is not recognized, but works with the RISC-V Nezha build from @balbes150)
  • the WaveShare hat with USB and Ethernet is not recognized either.

But since we have experienced ourselves issues with different usb-c hubs from different brands connected to different devices running different software, it is eventually worth it to do further tests, if you own a MangoPi MQ Quad SBC or want to buy one to test it as well. To get a running usb-c connection would make this devices a Pinephone and a Raspberrri Pi zero w2 alternative.
