For gold standard for heart rate measurements and for heart rate data which are highly reproducable:
- a 3 channel ECG device
- the Mason-Likar ECG placement
- a trained person which checks every ECG
Is required. But unfortunately, there is not yet a gold standard for respiration rate measurement device which is affordable and easy to use.
Peter Gamma from www.petergamma.org suggests the following solution:
- Device: Peter H. Charlton Respiratory rate estimation Matlab toolbox
- Device: Respiration belt transducer with peak tetection to measure respiration rate
- Device: air flow measurement and peak detection measurement to measure respiration rate
And to do some testing how to get a respiration rate from these devices which is as accurate as possible.
