- The LattePanda Delta offers Windows & Linux dual boot.
- It is sold for around 300 USD at Digitec Switzerland
- it says nothing that a Windows 10 licence is included in that price, whe therefore suppose that it is not included.
We evaluated for a whole week the LattePanda V1 with Lubuntu before we found out that we have to code it yourself to get it running, what we wont’t do.
- For our own special application a LattePanda V1 with Lubuntu or Fedora would be sufficient, we do not see a reason to buy a 300 USD device just to have Linux dual boot.
- We currently evaluating the Raspberry Pi3 with touch screen, and what we have seen from the Electronic Guru, touch screen control with this device is very sophisticated:
- If we see an equivalent demo of the 300 USD LattePanda Delta which shows that the 300 USD device can to the same as the 30 USD Raspberry Pi 3 as far as touch is concerned, or even beat it then we reconsider evaluating the LattePanda Delta further.
- Here is shown what the electonics Guru from India managed to to with a 30 USD Raspberry 3 and a 5 inch screen:
- The Raspberry Pi 3 has it’s community, but where is the community of the LattePanda Delta?
- We could see that there is every now and then an entry in the LattePanda forum, but what is this compared to the many publications which are available for the Raspberry Pi 3?
- Is it the price tag of 300 USD which hinters Indian Gurus like the electronic GURU to develop interesting demos for this device which are also interesting for simple Swiss single board computer users?
- Feora supports now the Raspberry Pi 4 which is great. Unfortunately, they could not convince us that we can work with it as a daily driver.
- What about Fedora supporting a more powerful single board computer, as for instance the LattePanda Delta?
- For 300 USD the device offes a SBC with Linux dual boot. Maybe Fedora developers find a more affordable device for a Fedora dual boot device, but is the LattePanda Delta not more suitabe to be supported by Fedora than the Raspberry Pi 4?
- We miss also detailed power conumption data as we have those already have for the different Raspberry Pi models:
- These power draw data would be helpful to make a decision. Eventually they are already there, but we won’t search for those anymore.
- A simple Raspberry Pi 3 A+ is powerful enough for many tasks we need a device for and it uses little power.
- Before we change to another device it is important to know the size of battery it requires for mobile use.
- And it is also essential to have user reports which reports they are using this device and they report that they are happy with it.
