Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche practices meditation without a device:

But since Peter Gamma is a physiologist, we wants to have a least one physiolological sensor device for practicing meditation. He currently uses a Garmin watch:

But he is not happy with it. Which scientists exept Rob ter Horst use smartwatches for scientific studies? His favorite devices for his home lab are 3 channel ECG devices. He thinks brain scanners are too expensive for his home lab. And he wants to have a device which is also accepted for instance by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich, or can at least be validated for clinical and research applications. Among the ECG devices he reviewed on www.petergamma.org, he did not find one which fit’s for his needs. And he most probably will build one by himself as soon as he finds time for it. But he will look for an instruction how to build it here:

And not on YouTube, since he did not find one there which fit’s for his needs.

But before he starts building he will study the scientific literature about it, and will try to find out if it is worth or not. And he most probably will not come back to Laghsam, Altered Traits and Rob ter Horst.
